Sri-Guggan Sri-Skanda-Rajah dedicated his life to supporting and championing the causes of multi-racial communities in Ontario, Canada.
In this website we have begun to bring together key documents about Sri-Guggan’s life and contributions. We have compiled and are making publicly available a range of materials including contemporary press articles and reminiscences by his colleagues and family to act as primary evidence of his life and work.
We are setting up this resource with the aim of informing and motivating researchers and students to study and further explore Sri-Guggan’s contributions to Canadian society and communities in the years 1975 to 2012, in the following areas:
Human rights, the law, racism and anti-racism
Systemic racism in policing and the criminal justice system in Ontario
Anti-ableism, rights and empowerment of Persons with disabilities.
Employment and pay equity in Ontario
Refugee advocacy and support services
Youth empowerment
We will expand the scope and coverage of this website by encouraging further research into these topics, which we will add to it as it becomes available. To enable this, we plan to offer an annual scholarship in memory of Sri-Guggan which will support a student to pursue studies and research on the above subjects at a Canadian academic institution. The scholarship will be funded by donations.
Sri-Guggan dedicated his life uplifting the lives of individuals with Sri-Guggan's legacy and advancing research that develops lasting social change. His unwavering vision was to bridge knowledge with humanity, ensuring education becomes a pathway to empowerment.
